PhaseForge — AC Power Factor & Phase Angle Sentinel
About this project
PhaseForge is an ESP32-based single-phase AC power factor meter that uses dual high-rate ADC sampling to measure both the voltage and current waveforms of a low-voltage AC circuit simultaneously. By detecting rising zero-crossings in software and computing the phase angle φ between them, it calculates the true power factor PF = cos(φ), real power P, reactive power Q, and apparent power S. A 0.96-inch SSD1306 OLED cycles through three display pages (V/I, PF/phase, P/Q/S), three status LEDs indicate PF quality (GOOD / MODERATE / POOR), and a soft-AP WebServer streams a live dashboard to any connected browser. The project teaches the triangular power relationship, inductive vs. capacitive load behaviour, and the real-world consequence of low power factor on energy bills.
