BaroTrack — BMP280 Digital Barometer & Altitude Tracker
About this project
BaroTrack reads atmospheric pressure, temperature, and computed altitude using the Bosch BMP280 MEMS barometric pressure sensor. The IC stores 12 factory-calibrated trim coefficients in its EEPROM; the firmware reads all 24 coefficient bytes and applies Bosch's exact compensation formulas (using 64-bit integer arithmetic for pressure) to convert raw ADC values into hPa and °C. Altitude is derived from the hypsometric barometric formula. A 16×2 LCD cycles through three display modes: Altitude (m), Pressure (hPa), and Temperature (°C). A short button press cycles modes; a one-second long press sets the current pressure as the sea-level reference, zeroing the relative altitude. A 5-LED bar maps altitude to 10 m steps (0–40 m), ideal for stairwell and building-floor demos. A storm-warning buzzer activates when pressure drops more than 0.5 hPa in 30 seconds.
