PowerVault — DC Power & Energy Tracker
About this project
PowerVault is an Arduino Uno-based DC power and energy measurement instrument. It reads load voltage through a 30 kΩ : 10 kΩ voltage divider on ADC pin A0 (range 0–20 V) and load current through a 1 Ω 1 W shunt resistor on ADC pin A1 (range 0–1 A). Both channels average 16 ADC samples for noise reduction. The firmware computes power (P = V × I) in real time and accumulates energy (E = ∫P dt) every 100 ms using millis()-based interval arithmetic. A Nokia 5110 LCD (84×48 pixels, PCD8544 controller) displays V, I, P, and accumulated E simultaneously on a single screen. An over-power buzzer alerts once when P exceeds 2 W. A HOLD button freezes the display for lab-report readings; an ENERGY RESET button clears the Joule accumulator. The project concretely demonstrates Ohm's Law, the power triangle (P = V×I = V²/R = I²R), and energy integration — core concepts in every Electrical Engineering curriculum.
