TransForge — Signal Transformer Turns-Ratio Sentinel
About this project
TransForge uses the ESP32's built-in 8-bit DAC to synthesise a 977 Hz sinusoidal excitation signal and drives the primary winding of any small signal or audio transformer under test through a 220 Ω protection resistor. GPIO34 samples the primary terminal voltage directly while GPIO35 samples the secondary through a 10 kΩ:10 kΩ halving divider. Welford's one-pass online algorithm computes the AC RMS of both channels across 512 samples, automatically rejecting the DAC's DC offset, and divides to yield the turns ratio N = V_s,rms / V_p,rms. A Nokia 5110 84×48 LCD displays V_p, V_s, and N; tri-colour LEDs classify signal quality; and a soft-AP web dashboard graphs up to 20 ratio readings with live numerical readouts — all without an oscilloscope or LCR bridge.
