ExtinguishGuard — Fire Extinguisher Cabinet Monitor
About this project
ExtinguishGuard is a fire extinguisher cabinet monitoring system built on Arduino Uno that detects when a fire extinguisher is removed from its wall-mounted cabinet, triggering an immediate notification to building security. The system uses a magnetic reed switch to monitor cabinet door status and a weight-based pressure sensor to detect extinguisher removal. When the extinguisher is taken, a latched alarm activates: a 12V strobe beacon flashes, an active buzzer sounds, and the 16×2 I2C LCD displays the removal timestamp and elapsed time. A key-operated reset switch allows authorized personnel to acknowledge extinguisher use and silence the alarm. This project demonstrates fire safety equipment monitoring principles used in commercial buildings to track emergency equipment deployment and prevent theft.
