IrForge Universal IR Decoder Station
About this project
IrForge Universal IR Decoder Station turns any infrared remote control — your TV remote, AC remote, fan remote, set-top box remote, or a standard 21-key Arduino kit remote — into a command interface for Arduino. Point any IR remote at the TSOP38238 receiver and the system instantly displays the decoded protocol name, full 32-bit HEX code, and extracted 8-bit command byte on the 16×2 I2C LCD. Eight specific buttons are pre-mapped to reactions: Red LED for ALERT mode, Green LED for OK mode, Blue LED for INFO mode, Yellow LED for WARNING mode, VOL+ triggers an LED cascade chase, VOL- clears all LEDs, CH+ plays a buzzer scale-up melody, CH- plays a scale-down melody. Every other button displays its raw decoded HEX code. The WOW factor at exhibitions: invite any judge to pull out their personal phone or point a TV remote at the receiver — watch their own remote control an Arduino they've never touched. Build time: 2 hours.
