TapSession — Touch-Activated Classroom Door Status & Timer Panel
About this project
Build a touch-activated 'Class in Session' status panel that mounts outside a classroom door. A single TTP223 capacitive touch pad replaces a fiddly mechanical switch — one tap starts a class timer, lights a red LED, and shows a live countdown on a 16x2 LCD; a second tap ends the session early; and a quick double-tap while a class is running silently adds 10 extra minutes without the teacher leaving the room. When the timer naturally runs out, the panel reverts itself to green 'Break' mode and beeps automatically. No switches to wear out, no WiFi, no app — just a touch pad, a state machine, and a countdown timer running entirely on an Arduino Uno. The WOW moment: tap once, watch the LCD start counting down from 50:00, then double-tap and watch it jump straight back up by 10 minutes. Build time: 2-3 hours.
