GyroStream ESP32 IMU Web Dashboard
About this project
GyroStream ESP32 IMU Web Dashboard reads all 6 axes of the MPU6050 inertial measurement unit — 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope — via direct I2C register reads, then serves a live web dashboard on a WiFi hotspot created by the ESP32 itself. Connect your phone or laptop to the 'GyroStream-AP' network, open 192.168.4.1 in any browser, and watch all 6 sensor values plus calculated pitch and roll angles update in real time at 3 readings per second. Tilt the breadboard past 30° and the dashboard cards turn red. A 128×64 SSD1306 OLED displays pitch, roll, and the WiFi IP address for quick reference without a Serial Monitor. No router needed — the ESP32 creates its own access point. This project demonstrates four concepts that professional firmware engineers use daily: reading hardware register maps over I2C, ESP32 SoftAP WiFi mode, serving HTML+CSS+JavaScript from a microcontroller, and implementing a REST-style JSON API with fetch() polling in the browser. Build time: 3 hours.
